Holiday Ideas
For holidays not included in the following notes, be sure to check out our social media pages later this month!
May 1: Beltane/May Day
Beltane, also sometimes called May Day, celebrates the peak of spring as well as the coming of summer. This is often celebrated with bonfires and Maypoles. If you’d like to learn more about this holiday and its connection to May Day as well as great ways to celebrate with kids, check out this link!
May 1: Mother Goose Day
National Mother Goose Day was first established in 1987, but fairy tales and nursery rhymes have been a large part of many cultures for centuries. For interesting facts about the famous stories we all know and love as well as some ways to celebrate this holiday with young learners, check out this link!
May 4: May the 4th Be with You Day
This holiday has become more and more popular in recent years, and it is attributed to the Star Wars film franchise. You don’t have to be an avid Star Wars fan to have fun on this holiday, though! This link has a ton of great STEM activities that are Star Wars themed, but they are still loads of fun for any learner!
May 14: Dance like a Chicken Day
What a silly, fun day! Today, spend time dancing like a chicken with your kiddos all around the house or classroom! To make it extra silly, try making these chicken hats, first! Then your dance moves will not only look like a chicken, but your heads will, too.
May 26: World Dracula Day
Your young learners may be a little too small for Bram Stoker’s Dracula on this holiday, so instead, have fun creating a Dracula inspired craft! Here is one of my favorites that I found!
